Hey Apple – sue Microsoft over this silhouette!

by Rich on April 12, 2007

Hey Apple! Sue Microsoft Last year Apple got the hump with an animation that we used to promote the iBuzz vibrator. We committed the heinous crime of using a black silhouette on a coloured background, so Apple had one its high-priced UK law firms send threatening letters to LoveLabs. How everyone laughed at Apple’s expense – Apple claimed to own copyright in silhouettes. Aaahhahahaha.

So it’s in the spirit of helpfulness to Apple and its lawyers that I draw attention their attention to this advert for Guitar Hero 2 on the xBox 360. It uses a black silhouette and a brightly coloured background – and a white product.

So, come on then fearless Apple lawyers, send some letters to Redmond! Or to Activision! Or whoever! Or do you only pick on little guys?

BTW, the Guitar Hero 2 music situation sounds pretty sucky.

mmm…the difference is that this ad is ugly. Its funny how the end result of this ad looks a lot like the “Microsoft iPod” packaging spoof (youtube link) from a while back. The iBuzz and iGasm ads, though, look exactly like blatant copies of the iPod ad….which they are, of course. I mean, that’s the point, right?

Whoops–that youtube link didn’t come out right. Here’s the right one: Microsoft iPod spoof.
