All the rage at the mo in the bleurghoshere is this super-genius widget thing that magically calculates how much your blog is worth. Or, in my case, my cocking blog. All you have to do is cut-and-paste some code from Dane Carlson’s Business Opportunities Weblog and it magically calculates the value of your blog. Mine is worth $564 apparently.

My blog is worth $564.54.
How much is your blog worth?
Says Dale:
“Inspired by Tristan Louis’s research into the value of each link to Weblogs Inc, I’ve created this little applet using Technorati’s API which computes and displays your blog’s worth using the same link to dollar ratio as the AOL-Weblogs Inc deal.”
Even though I would sniffily disagree that Sextoysinsider.com is only worth a spit over $530 (and anyway, I’m not doing it for the money), what’s brilliant about How Much Is Your Blog Worth is that it demonstrates the rampant power of the widget.
Cleverly, it also mashes up two separate sources of information (the link:dollar ratio and Technorati’s API) and it’s a simple cut-and-paste effort to plonk the code on your Web site and add something that’s of interest. It’s free content and has a viral appeal – as soon as you see one, you want one for yourself.
What would be really cool is if it updated itself as more sites linked to yours. As it is, it just provides a snapshot of your blog’s value at a single point in time.
Still, I’ll be back in a month to see how Sextoysinsider.com has progressed.
And in a month’s time I’ll still be pissing myself laughing at how much it says some of LoveHoney’s competitors are worth.
