OK, I admit it, I should have called each instalment “Part” whatever not “Week” whatever. Because even though this is part 7, we’re actually up to week umpteen. Possibly 14. That’s not to say nothing has happened in the interin period – it has, it’s just that it’s largely been nothing to do with me…
We’ve seen and approved samples of Product X (in both mini and maxi versions) so live as I type right now this minute (and possibly during the minute that you’re reading this, as long as you’re reading before the end of the first week of January 2007) Product X is being made in China. Unless it’s the middle of the night there, in which case they’d have downed tools for the evening.
This is, of course, hugely exciting because it means that Product X is now almost a reality. Born of our fevered imaginations about 4 months ago, it’s now within spitting distance of being shipped to the UK to please and pleasure the nation’s men and women.
The only thing I’ve had to do in the last couple of weeks was write the copy for the product’s packaging. It was a simple job because it’s a relatively simple product – not many words required at all. They’re all good ones, mind.
Today we received a PDF of the first draft of the packaging from our designer Jez. We made a few changes and pinged it back to him to product the final PDF. We just have to wing that to our UK fixer and then sit back and twiddle our thumbs until we get news that the job’s been finished.
So far it’s all gone pretty smoothly. All that remains is to ship the product to the UK, check some random samples for quality, photograph it, add it to LoveHoney and our other Web sites, PR the living daylights out of it and wait for the orders to flood in.
Not much left to do then…
